How to Use Blog Carnivals to
Increase Traffic

If you're looking for a quick and simple
way to drive more traffic to
your blog, consider blog carnivals. Until recently, I didn't know
what a blog carnival was so if that's new term to you don't be
concerned. I'm not certain where the term carnival came from but one
blog owner will host the carnival each week and you submit a post
that could be included in the blog carnival at the host's discretion
as long as you submit before the deadline.
The person hosting the blog carnival will peruse
the blog posts submitted and choose which ones to include. The host
will make a post on the host blog with links to each of the posts
included in the blog carnival. Hosts are free to do what they want.
Some will select a top post or a top ten and say something about each
of them. Other hosts will just post a list of all the blog posts
submitted without much introduction.
Lots of bloggers follow the blog carnivals
around the blogosphere from week to week so they generate traffic and
blog carnival visitors will have the opportunity to visit your blog by
clicking on the link to your post in the blog carnival. Blog carnivals
are generally topical so you'll need to find a blog carnival on a
topic related to your blog but that should not be difficult. And if
you'd like, some blog carnivals will allow you to host the blog
carnival on your own blog.
A good idea for finding blog carnivals is to simply perform a
search on the term "blog carnival" in Google or Yahoo. There's is
also a popular site called blogcarnival.com which lists hundreds of
blog carnivals on many topics. You'll probably find one suited to
your blog. Submitting the post for consideration only takes a minute
or two. All you do is paste the permalink to a recent post in your
blog into a form and add your name and email address. It's as simple
as that.
You can search for more specific blog
carnivals in your niche by performing more specific searches like
maybe "golf blog carnival" if you have a blog about golf. That's a
good exercise for other reasons than finding blog carnivals. You
might find a few new blogs to add the list of blogs you like to read.
This is so brain dead simple that you should do it right now while
you're thinking about it. You can find a blog carnival and submit a
post very quickly. Then you can sit back and watch the traffic come
in.
Cindy King knows the secret
to getting <a href="http://www.blogcarnivalz.com">automated
one way
links</a>. She says: "I've been getting 25 blog carnival submission
notices in my emailbox every week like clockwork since I subscribed.
In addition to building one-way links which boost search engine

HOT BIZ*TIP

Restart
Shortcut
This is a
shortcut right on your desktop that allows you to instantly restart
your computer and do a quick reboot. In Windows XP, right click on
your desktop and go to New, Shortcut. In the wizard box for "Type the
location of the item," enter this in: %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe
-r. (It may be best to copy and paste this into the box to make sure
you have it correct). Click Next when you're done. Now, in the box
that says "Type a name for this shortcut," enter in whatever you'd
like. For example, you can name it "Restart My Computer" or just
simply, "Restart." Click Finish to complete the process.
You will then see
a new icon on your desktop and you can test it out by double clicking
it. Your computer will restart for you, just like it would if you went
to Start, Restart. Now, just in case you were wondering, the -r in the
code above is used for the restart parameter. If you wanted to shut
down your computer, you would use -s, which you can see from the tip
linked above.
