1.) BIZ THOUGHT
___________________

WHEREVER YOU ARE, BE THERE
........by Jim Rohn

One of the major reasons why we fail to find happiness or to
create unique lifestyle is because we have not yet mastered
the art of being.

While we are home our thoughts are still absorbed with
solving the challenges we face at the office.  And when we
are at the office we find ourselves worrying about problems
at home.

We go through the day without really listening to what
others are saying to us.  We may be hearing the words, but
we aren't absorbing the message.

As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past
experiences or future possibilities.  We are so involved in
yesterday and tomorrow that we never even notice that today
is slipping by.

We go through the day rather than getting something from the
day.  We are everywhere at any given moment in time except
living in that moment in time.

Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are.  It is
developing a unique focus on the current moment, and drawing
from it all of the substance and wealth of experience and
emotions that it has to offer.  Lifestyle is taking time to
watch a sunset.  Lifestyle is listening to silence.
Lifestyle is capturing each moment so that it becomes a new
part of what we are and of what we are in the process of
becoming.  Lifestyle is not something we do; it is something
we experience.  And until we learn to be there, we will
never master the art of living well.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Hello Exchangers,

A "Warm Welcome" to all our new subscribers.

Are e-zines becoming a thing of the past?
Absolutely NOT!

I realize there are thousands and thousands of e-zines
out there.  It is hard to choose what ones are good
and what ones should be sent to the recycle bin.

Does it matter how many subscribers there are?
Does it matter how long they have been in publication?
YES and NO

There are new publications coming out everyday.
It does not mean that they do not have a promising
future.  Gosh, there are ones that have been around
for quite sometime and they are filled with nothing but
advertisements.  If an e-zine has been in publication for
a few years and only has a couple hundred subscribers,
then you need to think twice about its content.  If you find
a publication with only a few thousand subscribers, that
doesn't mean it is not good.  Some publishers prefer a
smaller subscriber base.

This may seem really silly, but I pick publications with
names that I like.  That I feel have a sense of value in the
title.  I'll subscribe and if the content is no good, I unsubscribe.
It is that simple.

E-zines will ALWAYS be the number one source for information.
They will also be the most effective way to advertise a product
or service.  So never think, because there are a gazillion e-zines,
that they will become a thing of the past.

YOU HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

...Until Next Time,
Debbie Solomon
editor of The OnLine Exchange

Why 95% Of All Affiliates Fail
........by Michael Murray

«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»
Budding affiliates fail for so many reasons it's hard
to count. But what I have done is listed the two main reasons why
95% of all failed affiliates failed. I hope
that made sense :)

1. They Simply Do Nothing To Promote The Affiliate Program

This is the most common mistake I see happening. People simply sign up
for the affiliate program and
they either think the money is magically going to roll
in, or they simply don't take the responsibility of
being an affiliate as seriously as they should have.

Because most affiliate programs are free to join,
people don't really take it as seriously as say
someone who pays $1000 for resell rights to a
certain product would. You need to treat your
affiliate network like a serious business or you
will never earn serious profits.

That's why some affiliate managers only let the
people who buy their product join their affiliate
program. This makes it fair for the people who
are willing to spend some money on their business.
No matter how hard you try, you will have to open
your wallet sooner or later. Plus, owning the product
will better equip you to sell it. Would you recommend
a product that you haven't even tested yourself?

2. They Get Incorrect Information From So Called Experts Or Read Outdated Material.

Here are two big myths that new affiliates may mistake
for truths:

1. Free classified ad style advertising works.

2. Placing paid advertising for your program will reap huge profits.

All incorrect. Let me explain.

FFA posts and free classified ads used to work. You could once rely on
these to bring in a fair bit of money. Nowadays though, I feel the work you
have to put into them is too much trouble for the results you get.
You would be lucky to even make one sale from this sort
of advertising. That also goes for putting affiliate banner links up and expecting that to work.

The biggest secret for all affiliates is to create a 1
page site that's focused on one product and theme.

1 product + 1 web site = big profits. If you don't remember anything else, remember that.

The next unsuccessful strategy affiliates use usually comes as a
surprise to most people. What most
affiliate program managers tell you is that promoting
their affiliate program directly with paid advertising
is the best way to earn profits.

What this basically does is increase the "brand" value
of their affiliate program (I.E. it makes them more well known,
 yet YOU are still "unknown").

The reason that this is one of the biggest killers of affiliates is because there
could be over 5000 other affiliates promoting the same program.
What you want to do is stand out of the pack by getting the person's email address
so you can continually advertise (while offering good content) so they
become familiar with you. You have to give these people a reason to buy from you,
not the other 4999 affiliates promoting the same product.

You need to build a brand. You need to build your
own business.

Don't expect the affiliate program manager to do this
for you. If you really want to create a successful
business you must collect people's email addresses.

Anchor Points

With my book demanding so much of my time, I'm going to run
previous tips in the Tip 2 spot for a while. Many will have forgotten
the tip, and they will still be new to many subscribers who weren't
aboard years ago. Consider it a "best of" tip for a while. I hope that
works for you, because it will sure help me out. Trying to come up
with something new after writing hundreds of these tips is time
consuming. Having said that, here we go, Debbie...

You know how to make a link, but do you know how to link to a
specific spot on a page? The "name anchor" will allow you do to
things like linking from an index at the top of a page to specific
sections on that page, and back to the top again. You can also link
to specific sections on a page from other pages.

To begin, you need to know what section you want to be an anchor
point. For this example, we'll say you have a long page of content
and want to make a link at various points on the page that take a
visitor back to the top of the page. At the top of the page, just under
the body tag, you'd type:

<.a name="top"><./a>

Notice you don't place any text between the name anchor tag and
the cancel tag. This allows the tag to remain hidden. The name
(top, in this example) can be anything you want. I use names that
are relevant to the anchor point ...usually. Sometimes I feel
whimsical and might call an anchor point Fizzbot or some other
silly name.

You can place anchor tags anywhere you want on a page, and use
as many as you need to use.

Now for the second part of the tag, the part that is the link people
see and click on, you'd place a tag like the one below at various
strategic points on your page:

<.a href="#top">Back to the Top<./a>

The hash mark (#) tells the browser that the link is to a named
anchor tag within the existing document. After the hash mark
type the name of the anchor you created (top, in this example).

Wherever you include this link it will jump the visitor back to the top
of the page when they click it. If you have another anchor point that
is named "Fizzbot" then you'd code the link that takes your visitor
to Fizzbot as follows:

<.a href="#Fizzbot">See my Fizzbot<./a>

You can use these name anchor tags anywhere on your page. You
can have links like I've shown here that take you back to the top, or
have links at the top that take down to any place within the page.

This stuff really is pretty easy when you start getting the hang
of it. Now let's suppose you want to place a link to Fizzbot on
another page so that your visitor will be taken to the page with
Fizzbot on it, and have that page open at precisely that point where
your Fizzbot fun is coded.

To do that, you'd code your regular link and then add the hash
mark and name anchor after the regular URL:

<.a href="somepage.html#Fizzbot">Check out my Fizzbot!<./a>

You can link up and down pages like a wild coyote if you want.
And if you have ever seen a wild coyote create links, you'd be...
hallucinating big time.
