Dr. Suess' Computer
Many people have asked why a computer
crashes. It is usually very technical but maybe this will help. Dr.
Seuss Explains Why Computers Sometimes Crash (Read this to yourself
aloud -- it's GREAT!)
If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on
a port,
and the bus is interrupted at a very last resort,
and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort, then the
socket packet pocket has an error to report.
If your cursor finds a menu item
followed by a dash,
and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash, and your
data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash, then your
situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!
If the label on the cable on the table
at your house,
says the network is connected to the button on your mouse, but your
packets want to tunnel to another protocol, that's repeatedly
rejected by the printer down the hall,
If your screen is all distorted by the
side effects of gauss, so your icons in the window are as wavy as a
souse; then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang, 'cuz sure
as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang!
When the copy of your floppy's getting
sloppy in the disk, and the macro code instructions cause
unnecessary risk, then you'll have to flash the memory and want to
RAM your ROM then turn off the computer and be sure to tell your
Mom!
WELL! That certainly clears things up
for ME.

Hello Exchangers,
A "Warm Welcome" to all our new subscribers.
It is S.A.T. week at my son's school.
I made sure he was fed well and also got to bed early. I guess
no matter how hard you try, things just don't work out. On the
second day of the exams, my son was complaining that he did not feel
well. I knew it was not nerves from testing, because it comes
very easy to him. Plus he is in 1st grade, and kids at that age
do not get stressed out. He was not warm, so I told him to go to
school and try to get through the day. That lasted about an hour
before I got a call from school. By noon he was burning up with
a fever. He could not even eat he was so sick. His fever
broke this morning, but he was still flushed and not himself, so I had
to keep him home. Well, his teacher emailed me and asked about
him, which was so, so nice. And then 2 hours later his guidance
counselor called and asked how he was and to see if he could anyway
make it to school on Friday, because it is the last day for make-ups.
Well, he will be fine and they were glad to hear that, however, they
were shocked to hear that he had a high fever and was REALLY sick!
Especially the guidance counselor. Believe it or not, some kids do
tell the truth. It is not always nerves, and they do not fake it
to get out of a test. Kids are the innocence of humanity, we
have to try to remember that sometimes.
And don't forget:
YOU HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
...Until Next Time,

Also Rans
«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»
I don't care if you are in an affiliate
program, are involved in Network Marketing or just trying to sell your
products to a niche market. Just ask yourself this: How many of the
"High Fliers" have their own web site, and how many of the
"Also Rans" don't?
Search Engines will strip off the
script.cgi?59432, so there goes your commission right out the window.
That is if they bother indexing the site in the first place.
Undoubtedly the affiliate page will already be indexed, and your page
with them is most likely going to be ignored as they already have it.
They won't re-index a page if it does not contain anything new, and
since you can't change it, it won't.
With your own site you will be able to
easily track which of your advertising campaigns are generating
traffic and, more importantly, which ones are generating sales.
Without being able to accurately track your ads, you will be wasting a
lot of money and time.
Having your own site will enable you to
build up trust with your clients and potential clients, something that
is much overlooked these days. Everyone involved in online sales,
recommends that you put contact information on your web site. You
can't do this with most affiliate pages, but can do anything you wish
with your own.
Now here is the best part. Suppose you
join a program, and get an affiliate page that you spend a lot to
promote. If the program is "played out', or is simply not
producing, and you decide to investigate another opportunity, all the
ad money you spent is wasted. Many people also are in multiple
programs, and must advertise each independently as they all have their
own domain.
If you have your own site however, this is
not the case. You can choose which, and how many, programs you are
promoting all from your one site. This means that if you change or add
programs, there is no need to go through all your ads and change your
referral URL, You just need to change yoursite.com. A big bonus is
that if you do have multiple programs on your site, someone may come
from one ad, see another program they like, and join that one as well.
I have only come across three arguments as
to why people do not have their own dot.com's:
1) I Already Have A Site With One Of The
Free Hosts.
Look at your site through the eyes of a
potential client. Do you think the banner ads the free web site
provider puts on your page, enhance the information you want your
potential clients to see? Go to http://geocities.yahoo.com
and look at some of the sites. Is the image you want for your
business.
2) I Can't Afford My Own Dot.Com Name And
Site.
Really? You don't need many of those
"bells and whistles"
included by many providers, so why pay for them. You could have your
own dot.com registered AND hosted for about $30 a year. That's about
the cost of one fast food lunch a month. Do you really think this is
too much to invest in your future? For an example, stop by http://bitshack.com
and you'll see what I mean.
3) I Can't Design A Website.
We are not talking anything complex here,
just a simple site will have dramatic results on your traffic, and
signups. There are also an abundance of free web building programs out
there. Go to:
http://www.cas.psu.edu/docs/cashome/guides/htmllist.html
and you will find plenty of free and low cost tools you can use.
Remember you are talking about an on-line business, and this is one
skill you should learn.
Let's talk facts. As more and more people
spend time on the web, they quickly learn that if they've seen one
affiliate site for a company, they've seen them all. They also develop
a dislike of the "pop down" screens and banners of the free
sites. They also look with disdain upon free web space provided by
ISP's, as there is no degree of permanence there.
If they're going to do business on the
web, prospects want to deal with someone who will be around for
awhile, and your own web domain and site is a good indicator. You at
least are showing your prospects that you are serious about doing
business on the web, and probably will not be an "Also Ran",
hoping to make a quick buck or two.

Downloading to Floppy Disks and
CDs
There's no reason why you CAN'T do this...
but there *is* a
reason why you should NOT.
When you download, *don't* try to download
directly to a
floppy disk, or to a CD-ROM. Download to your computer's C:
drive.
Why?
Your hard drive is MUCH faster than your
A: drive (floppy
drive). And it holds a lot more than a little 1.44 megabyte
floppy could ever think of holding.
Many of our customers have tried
downloading our products to
their floppy disks, or to a CD. We always tell them to download
to their hard drive, or "C: drive" then to make a COPY of
the
program onto their CD. We only have one program that is small
enough to fit on a floppy disk: Keyboard Magic. It is about
half a megabyte in size... which means you could fit two of
them on a floppy! (See what Keyboard Magic is all about by
visiting: <http://newbieclub.com/keyboard>
CDs are usually created by going through
your CD software
that lets you "burn" a CD. We don't have tutorials on this
process, as it differs greatly, depending on the manufacturer
of the software and player you have installed.
But when it comes to downloading, just
save the file to your
computer's hard drive (C). Then move it later. This will save
you a lot of frustration! If you want to see a real quick
tutorial on downloading... check this page out:
<http://newbieclub.com/how2download.htm>
If you're a downloading expert, great.
Help your neighbor get
that piano downstairs:-)
