"Where Are My Commissions?"

I wanted to make the title of this article 'Affiliates Are
Mad As Hell And We Aren't Going To Take It Anymore!', but
alas, that title was too long.
It really captures the gist of what I wrote about though.
Yes, affiliates who are 'in the know' WERE mad as hell and
have done something about it.
Mad about what...
Mad because most companies don't protect their affiliates.
Far from it, most of them go so far as to entice visitors
to become affiliates themselves and bypass the affiliate
that sent them there.
They do this with links that shout 'Earn Money' or
'Affiliates' right on their main sales page.
I don't know about you, but to me that looks like an open
invitation to join their affiliate program first; and
then buy their product using your own affiliate link.
Tacky, but common.
Mad because prospects eliminate their affiliate code from
the URL link and take the commissions for themselves.
Websites that use ClickBank to administer their program are
some of the worst offenders.
Don't get me wrong, I think ClickBank provides an excellent
service at a very fair price. But...
It is such a simple thing to change the ClickBank link so
that the affiliate who told you about the program doesn't
get the commission, but you do.
Don't think it happens? Think again!
Here's how: Say you hear about a new ebook and click on the
link; say it's http://hop.clickbank.net/?gra27/salesguide.
You like what the book has to offer and decide to buy it.
But many then say to themselves, 'Why should I pay full
price when I can become an affiliate and just pay half?'
If you are signed up with ClickBank, all you have to do is
substitute your own ClickBank ID for the original affiliates
and voila; the affiliate loses his commission again and you
get the book for as little as half price.
Believe me, it takes longer to describe than it does to
do it.
Even if the affiliate hides the code initially and uses a
redirect, all you have to do is look at the URL in the
address box when you get to the ClickBank order page and
change it.
What can be done about it though?
Is there anything ClickBank can do? I don't think so. It
would require a complete overhaul of the way their program
works. That's not going to happen.
How about the Affiliate Managers? Can they do something?
Yes. But without some incentive, most of them never will.
In fact, most of them actually encourage it, as I pointed
out earlier.
Is there something you can do?
Yes. Now there is. Affiliates who are 'in the know' are
using a very unique product called Click Bank Guard. Now
don't let the name confuse you, it will protect ALL
affiliate links, not just ClickBank's.
It will also enable you to shorten your promotional links
significantly and enable you to get them listed by the
search engines.
It is web based and there is no script or software to
install. It is so quick and easy to use, I don't know how
I ever got along without it. A couple of clicks and
you're done.

Click Bank Guard also has a ClickBank administered
affiliate program, but you have to be a purchaser of the
product before you can promote it and earn the 50%
commission.
This serves to protect you, the affiliate, so that you can
promote the program with full confidence that your hard work
will be rewarded handsomely.
Just as I was finishing this article another product came
on the market that is almost identical to Click Bank Guard.
It can be found at http://www.affiliatelinkcloaker.com.
The major difference is that it uses easy to decipher
Unicode to encode your links rather than the more complex
encryption performed by Click Bank Guard.
Now that you know how to protect yourself with Click Bank
Guard, what can you do to encourage affiliate managers to
tighten security?
1. Make them aware that you know you are losing commissions
this way. Feel free to send them this article as long as it
is sent in full including the resource box. If they get
enough complaints they will do something to protect their
affiliates.
Or, send them this article and ask them to create an
additional sales letter page without the references to
their affiliate program.
2. Promote affiliate programs don't have a link to join
their affiliate program right on the main sales page.
3. Only promote ClickBank programs that Do Not Mention
their affiliate program until AFTER a visitor has purchased
the product. Right now most of them do, so if you want to
make the most of your referrals, you need to be selective.
You have worked hard to promote your affiliate programs.
Don't stand by and let others take what rightfully belongs
to you. Stand up and say...
Affiliates Are Mad As Hell And We Aren't Going To Take It Anymore!

In our ongoing attempt to blast techie-speak into oblivion,
I'll launch into a joyful explanation of a concept you can't
do without.
If you're using a Windows based computer (and you are) then
you need to know that you're an executioner. That's right.
We're not talking lethal injections here, so hold on. Whether
you agree with capital punishment or not, you are indeed
doing the executioner's job ... right on your computer!
Okay, okay. Here's how. When you double click on an icon,
you are "executing" that icon's program. You see, icons- those
pretty little pictures that clutter your desktop -all represent
files, programs, sounds, etc. And the word 'execute' means "to
start up." Okay, if you're a techie who's signed up for
membership with The Newbie Club™, you know what I'm
talking about. So get away from the phone and resist the urge
to call me and "tell me like it really is." :-)
You'll notice that certain downloads have three letters after
them... "exe". That's short for "executable" and
means the file
will do something when you double click on it. So you see, you
must execute a file to bring it to life. This is the reverse of
what we normally think, but then, isn't that par for the course
with computers?
Executable files are very common, and very scary to some.
They think that an exe file will contain a virus. And it could.
But viruses are most commonly shared by email. The
