Ezine advertising is a powerful medium to get your message
in front of thousands of potential prospects or customers.
Many shy away from e-zine advertising because of the misconception
that it is too expensive or too complicated.
Neither of those two things has to be true.

First of all, ezine advertising is like most other
forms of advertising - the cost is dependent on many factors,
and advertising is available to meet many varied needs
and many different size budgets.

Several things must be considered before you place your first ads.

THE AD

The ad itself must be well written.
The headline is the most crucial piece of the ad,
and most writers spend as much time on the headline
as they do on the rest of the ad. 
Many good sites are available to help you with writing your ad.

WHERE TO PLACE THE AD

Ezine ads come in two varieties
- free and paid. Both work!
Finding a place for your ads that will reach an effective audience
takes a little research and time, but it is not difficult.

Many good directories are available.
The best way to find the directories or listings of ezines
that accept advertising is to begin with your favorite search engine.
Do a search for the term "ezine directories."
You will be presented with a list of many directories.
Look through several of them to see which ones have the features
and the information that helps you the most.

CHOOSING THE BEST EZINE

You must consider many factors in deciding which ezine to use
for your ad. Look at the following:

 · Number of subscribers
 · Number of ads per issue
 · Who reads this ezine?
 · Cost of the ad
 · Which days of the week is it published?

TRACKING ADS

Ad tracking and Key codes are crucial in all advertising.
It is best if you first run two to three ads in an ezine
before you make a long-term commitment.
Evaluate your results and calculate the cost per lead or customer..
Is this a good investment?
If so, go back to the same ezine and place more ads.
If not, then go back to the ezine directory
and find some new ones to try.

AD PLACEMENT

When you place your ad, you should know where it will appear
in the ezine. Most ezines offer a variety of positions,
and the cost will vary. Some of the most commonly used positions are:

Top Spot
Sponsor
Classified

No category is better than another overall.
A particular ezine may give different results depending
on where your ad appears within that ezine.

FREQUENCY

Frequency is how many times your ad appears in a particular ezine.
Test your ad in each ezine, but running it only one time
is not a good test.

Ezine advertising requires some time and effort initially,
but it is well worth the investment when done properly.

Creating a Resource Button

Creating resource buttons for your browser saves a lot of
time and typing. One click, and the page loads. No need to
look in your favorites folder, and no need to remember a
URL.

Internet Explorer: Just drag the "e" that precedes the URL
in the address bar onto the Links bar. If you don't have a Links bar,
you'll need to enable it by clicking View, Toolbars, Links.

Netscape: Drag the Location icon to the Personal Toolbar,
which should be showing by default. If it's not, click View,
then click Show Personal Toolbar.

You can rename the buttons that are created by right
clicking and selecting the Rename option.
I have a dozen of these buttons set up, and it takes only a click
to visit pages I use frequently.
This option only works for Internet Explorer.
